The scope of business is as follows: thermal power generation, transmission and transformation project survey, nuclear power (conventional island), new energy, engineering cost consulting, environmental impact assessment and compilation of water and soil conservation program etc.

Application of new technology: prominent achievements are obtained and rich experience is gained in the design localization of high-parameter large-capacity power station, air-cooled power plant, power generation from clean coal, gas-steam combined cycle design, UHVDC & UHVAC power transmission & transformation, HVDC converter station and back-to-back converter station. In recent decade, CSEPDI has won more than 20 prizes of National Outstanding Engineering Consulting Achievements and over 80 prizes of provincial-level & ministerial-level consulting achievements, among which, the feasibility study of SE Shanxi-Nanyang-Jingmen UHVAC Power Transmission & Transformation Project was awarded the National Outstanding Engineering Consulting Achievements; and the feasibility study of Guangdong Heyuan Power Plant was awarded the Class A Prize of Outstanding Engineering Achievement in Electric Power Industry.
